The Cardozo Center for Public Service Law initiates and coordinates Cardozo activities in the area of public service and public interest including panels and symposia, clinics, career opportunities, internships, clerkships, public interest stipends and the loan repayment assistance program, along with new and creative initiatives. The Director of the Public Service Law Center works closely with the Burns Ethics Center, the newly founded Cardozo Public Law, Policy and Ethics Journal, PILSA (Public Interest Law Student Association), and members of the faculty. The Center develops programs and outreach to government agencies, federal and state judges and courts, and not-for-profit agencies.

The Center fosters closer ties to agencies and departments at all levels of government in New York, the greater metropolitan area, and Washington, D.C.; develops and maintains relationships with not-for-profit organizations that serve the public; and assists our graduates in the private sector to find important ways to use their professional talents to advance the public interest. These efforts lead to additional opportunities for internships, clerkships, and employment; greater scholarly and academic contributions to our program from a wider range of people from the public sector; and an upsurge in the quality and type of panels and forums presented on campus.

Working with the Office of Alumni Affairs, the Center is planning a series of programs and reunions for alumni and students who have participated in clinics and Public Service internships/externships. There is nothing more important for lawyers, law students, and law professors than serving the greater public good. The Cardozo Center for Public Service Law helps immeasurably in emphasizing Cardozo's commitment to this ideal and in helping students find meaningful ways to engage in public service.
